What is the purpose of the temporary license in the partner area?

hello?

I ask this questions because I am not sure soholaunch will work for this website. We want to try it out first. Does the temporary license allow this?

hi linda, i think it is used to first 'test' a license with a specific install/domain. that way you dont have to commit to a permanent licence and you can make changes as you wish in the partner area. however, once the license is made permanent, you will have to contact admin about any changes, therefore keep it temp until you know for sure:)

another question ruben- so i am trying to set up a 'soho users manual' install using the 'temporary domain' procedure but i am wondering:

doesn't the manual install require a db license also?
how do i get this to work with a temperary license as i cant add features to a temp license.

thanks, stan

Correct Yugnats.

Hmmm ... I installed soholaunch on a website, set the domain for a temporary license in the partner area, but when I tried to login to the admin site it says the license is invalid. So, how does the temporary domain feature work exactly?

hmmm, i thought that a temp license had all of the features activated, but i could be wrong.
but why don't you just activate a real license and delete it when it does not work for you.?

i forgot to tell that you need to enable the Databases module when generating the license for the manual.

LSVF, you also try to create a real license instead of a temp one. and activate the db module.

Temp Licensing works as follows:

First you need to add your temp domain name under temporary domains, this is the site that your are currently working . Next go to manage servers or lifetime licenses. Next click Add domain. Here you will add the domain name that the site will end up on, and the temporary subdomain on which you are currently building the site on. For example, If you added the temporary domain fun.com (the domain of the subdomain that you are building the site on) Then when you add a domain you would add candy.com (the domain that the site will end up on, and temp in the temporary subdomain field and select candy.com (this generates a temp license for temp.candy.com). Now you have a temp license for temp.candy.com and at the same time you generated a license for fun.com (the final domain). I hope this is not too confusing. And you will need a license for Database Table Manager as well for a manual site.
