links not appearing

Hi,

I've built a new site (www.the-e-site.com), and spent a couiple of months promoting it, a few select links, publishing some articles etc. Now when I use Google Sitemaps, the indexing stats seem about right, but when I check the back links (link:www.the-e-site.com) it shows a big fat zero. Yet, when I enter "www.the-e-site.com" into the Google search bar I get a return of over 15,000. Has anyone any idea why the link isn't showing up?

Have you added your site to google..?? submit_content (http://www.google.com/intl/en/submit_content.html)

Also I would add more info into your Meta Tags.....More than

META name="description" content="Small Business, business advice, independent"
META name="keywords" content="business advice,independant"
meta name="DocumentAuthor" content="(C) The E Site Ltd. 2006"


It took a few months for my site to spider ito the google system..

Thanks Snipe. yes I have submitted the site, at least once a month, and I'm now recieiving about 800 hits off the Gogglebot a month.

The meta tags you've mentioned are the ones I've added to the template, there are additional ones for each individual page.

It's just that Google Sitemap seems to give contradictory information, the googlebot spiders me several times a day, yet the sitemap tells me the last time I was indexed was last week. Plus, why aren't my backlinks showing if there's over 15,000 returned on a search?
