View Full Version : Can create sec codes but can't see them...
Hello, 1st post...
I am trying to set up my family website so that it is secured. I went in and created a group and added a couple of users. When I set up the user I can select the newly created group BUT I the groups do not show up when I try to do it from Page Properties or the Calendar. Nothing shows up in the dropdown menu except for Public and a blank line.
This is my 1st website, so I'm sorry if this is a stupid question.
I am currently using the free trial version. Is this the reason its not working? Or do I need a longer tutorial? Or perhaps someone could throw a flaming brick upside my head so I can think better?:uh:
Security is the most important requirement of setting up a website for my family.
Help! Please and thanks!
Here's a really stupid question: did you name the group with two or more words? Sometimes if there's a space character you might need an underscore. This is just a wild guess.

Spaces should be OK (though underscores never hurt), but I'd check for apostrophes, quotes, and other non-alphanumeric characters in your group names too. Those can be death.

Nope. The free trial version is 100% full-featured. The only difference between it and the "paid" version is purely asthetic --- namely, the "free trial" popup you get at log-in.
Thanks for the responses! Most of the group names I used are simple like: sec1 or hp2. I am not sure why its not working.
Any other ideas?

Hmm...Maybe try longer group names? Like at least 5 characters including spaces.
May have to take a look at your site if that doesn't work. Sounds like an area that could use some intuitiveness tweaks.
This is the most puzzling issue I have run into... I created several more groups. It says they have been created but I still can't see them.
Mike, I guess I am going to need you to look at my site. :( Let me know what information you need.
Sorry I couldn't figure this out on my own. I feel like a slug.
Try going to SohoAdmin --> Help Center --> Diagnostics and see if there are any errors in the configuration.

...even when I run the manual links. Still doesnt' work. I must be the 1st to run into this. I am trying not to suspect user error. I can't think of anything I have done.

Don't know what caused the problem in the first place, but it's fixed now. Just had to drop the sec_codes table.
I just screamed so loud that both of my lazy dogs woke up outta their sleep and started barking!
I can now breathe! Mike is the man! If anyone has a problem with you buddy, feel free to refer them to me for an attitude adjustment. ;)

So can I change your forum user title from "Soho Novice" to "If you screw with Mike I'll break your kneecaps."?
Just kidding. Seriously though, I gotcha. Happy to help. ;)
