The major challenge with clients uploading their own pictures is they upload huge files to show as 200 px wide. They do not have the software nor do they want to deal with truly resizing their images. They think that because a 2500 px image shows as 200 px on their page then it is OK. They do not realize the image is a gig in file size.
One plugin I would certainly pay very well for use on my server is an image resizer where when they upload their image, it shows the actual size and then they have to option to resize and save.
And if any of you guys have a solution to this I would love to hear.

sounds interesting larry, we allready have this resize function included in our premium gallery plugin, so think we would be able to help you. i will investigate this and get back to you on this.

I am sure not complaining, just a bit perplexed.
Isn't image size a problem for the everyday "I want to maintain my own web site" kind of person?
Or am I missing something?
Anyway, I sure wish you guys would do something with this.
Thanks for a great program.

True, working on many plugins now, need to prioritize the need for things, image resizer is on the list but not the most important yet because there are many free small progs out there that do this for you.

thanks draknet
and sure there a a ton of other options.
I have a hard time believing my clients are the only clients that have a problem even setting up a mailbox. A bit overstated but they want to use their time to run their business.
So what do you tell your client when you see a 2100 px image shown on their page as 298px wide?
I tell them - You need to get a graphics program and actually resize the image.
What do you mean? they ask. It looks fine on the page as it is.
I explain a bit more.
Then they say - Well what should I get? Oh I have to do all that? OR
Ok I downloaded the program, how do you use it, I don't understand. I just want to do it, I don't have time to learn a whole different program.
Oh Well, the picture looks fine like it is.

If you're on Cpanel, there's an image resizer built in. Your client may have too many to use, but if it's just one, that's a good option.
Or you can tell them to pay you to do it. :)
