Even so I am using the latest version v 4.9 r 43 of the Soholaunch Pro I still get the

"This template does not seem to be in format" error

after uploading the template I have created.

Even if I try to upload the recommended sample template created by Jaun-Vincent Haasbroek, I get the same error.

Thanks

Zarzi

hi Zarzi,

Just so you know not all website makers use the same file format for templates. Example i use (bluevoda/voda) bluevoda website builder allows me to make templates. bluevoda templates are(.bvp) and doesnt match with soho's file format. I uploaded it soho and it wouldnt work, so i found out from tech that theres a difference between file formats. so you might have created a miss match by trying to upload template to soho in a different format. Always check with your support when in doubt.

I ran into that problem as well. Here's how I resolved it:

I created a folder called "My Custom Template" and placed my index.html, custom.css and image files into it.

I then logged into my FTP client and navigated to
/sohoadmin/program/modules/site_templates/pages where I uploaded my folder.

When I logged into the admin panel, my custom template showed in the list of templates for me to choose. After selecting this, the website then displayed with my custom template.

Thanks both dcra33 and Mel for your help.

I am using only Soho format throughout and not any other one. So it is not a format confusion.

Mel, I have already tried the method you are describing without success. The folders I am manually uploading via the FTP even do not show on the list on the admin panel.

Thanks
Zarzi

Hi,
I had a similar problem ie not in the correct format
As soon as I added the #CONTENT# into the index.html in my customised template folder the problem no longer appears.

w just signed up for soholaunch but I do not like the templates available and I know NOTHING about HTML, so....if I download bluevoda software, can I use it in soholaunch and if so, what do I need to do to NOT have errors - the above does not make any sense to me since I am brand new to this stuff. Please help!!

First of all, i think you should just get a template that supports all the features of the latest Soholaunch version. If the template you have or bought does not support this i'm sure the one that made it, will update it for you (and for him/herself). Take also a look at the http://addons.soholaunch.com website for templates.

Hi Zarzi
I just experienced the same problem on SOHO version 4.9r43
From what I can see what happens is at the time the Template Uploader uploads the template, it allocates the incorrect permissions.

The permissions it allocated are:
drqx------ i.e. 700 i.e. Owner read/write permissions. No Group or World Read permissions...

This sounds to me like a bug, has aynone reported this yet?

Thanks

Hi,
I had permission problems when I installed soholaunch using Cpanel, it was a real pain having to change all the permissions to the files & folders. The errors I were getting were page cannot be displayed, so I went into the error log in Cpanel to find what files had to be changed. BUT if I installed soholaunch by uploading the files I downloaded from the Soholaunch site & run the install script all was ok. No permission errors etc
** In regards to templates I have used a few free ones from here http://www.openwebdesign.org/most_popular.phtml and the end results have been great. Sorry for posting this link here not trying to deprive Soholaunch etc of Template sales but sometimes it's not possible to find a suitable design. Also it can help by giving you an idea on a design of your own
Hope this helps someone

Regards
Tony

Hello,

I see I am not alone...I tried everything, upload through FTP and, concerning the content, I tried that, just under the body tag..? Like that: <!--#CONTENT#--> Did not work either but please, can you tell me where you inserted the #CONTENT# ? Of course without having it showing on teh page?

I would really apprceiate if you could tell me that. Hopefully it will work for me too.

My design is all css and div. Is it a problem?

Thank you so much for your help.
