I am installing Soholaunch Pro to a demo site on a shared server (will be moving that domain to a dedicated environment in a few weeks but not ready yet). I've set up the database as instructed and changed the permission as instructed. setup.php cannot connect to mysql.

After multiple attempts I have even used the same settings on another application to test that the settings were correct on the server it resides on and the settings works flawlessly with other applications. Since I know at least one other site on the shared server runs SL pro I am assuming its not a problem on the server. Any advice would be appreciated.

You don't need a dedicated server or ip to run pro! If you could private message me with your contact information I would be happy to give you a call to run you through an install.

Sent you a message but didn't notice the part about a phone call. I won't be avaialble for phone calls until tonight (USA ET). The joys of putting the final touches on Hurricane preparations. I figure you won't be available then but I would appreciate any tips you could send me by email. I've gone over the available instructions here - duplicated it many times - and need something more because they do not work for me.

Thanks to Mike in support who patiently tracked down the problem with my installation. I only have one other issue and that is that I can't upload jpg or gif files through the admin and when I do through ftp the files are not recognized by the commerce part of the application (consequently I haven'been able to add any products). Probably something simple but not sure where to start. Thanks

Check your php.ini, and make sure it allows you to upload .jpg and .gifs. If you are not getting an error message from pro this is probably the problem. In the mean time you can always upload images to your /images dir and everything else to the /media directory.

I am getting an error from pro that says "system error" (where it should say "success") and the server's php.ini file does allow jpg and gif uploads as we do it from other scripts frequently. I have uploaded the images to the /images folder as you suggested and they do show within the file manager interface. However they do not appear when I attempt to associate the image with a product entry. There the only thing that appears is the default "no image". I'm figuring this is a problem with the installation?

i think you are running an older version of soholaunch, as this problem with the images not showing has been solved quite a while ago. try upgrading to a newer version.

Well I can try 4.7 but I'm running 4.6. I'll give it a go. Thanks

demostorm, try to upload an image through ftp or ssh to your images folder, let me know if your server allows it or not.

Also if you have tightened permissions down after installing, open them back up. If opening the permissions doesn't work, do a reinstall. Always backup what you have before a reinstall, you can do this by downloading the con and regen files in tmp_content, and downloading your media, and images files. As long as you upload the tgz file and extract it in your docroot, nothing will be lost, but always backup!
