Hi folks,
This is my first posting on soholaunch. I am looking for custom code module that someone may have developed for a dutch auction type system. I am prepared to buy the code or even pay an experienced coder to develop for me. It will be used in conjunction with this site http://www.worldseriesofgolfinc.com
I have a serious deadline and would appreciate any help locating this resource!

What exactly are you looking to do? You are more likley to get responses if you make what your trying to accomplish clear. People like to know what they are getting into ;) Also, I may be able to come up with a solution that doesn't involve editing the code.

The World Series of Golf holds major tournaments that are Open to golfers around the world. Each event has only 432 Entry Positions so starting 4 months before each event for the next 12 consecutive weeks, we put up 36 entry tickets and give golfers 7 days to bid on one or more of those positions. Winners pay their bid price by credit card and are notified that they won an entry position. They have another 7 days to sign and submit the required player agreement (that we email the winners) and send in the $10K buy-in fee. When everything is received, they get a confirmation number and can, if the wish, put that confirmed entry position back in the auction presumably to make a profit. It is auction with the next weekly lot of 36 tickets and they receive the 37th etc. bid price when those tickets are awarded. We will have several different tournaments open for bidding at any one time.
Obviously, we want the bidders to see the top bid only and the number of bidders that have matched it, if less bidders match the max bid than there are tickets available than the next highest bidder could get a ticket for less but it is a blind gamble. If more bidders match the max bid than there are available tickets than it is a first in first win situation or they can increase the bid by the min required and start a new high bid.
That is basically what I need programed and we go live for event #1 on Feb 1,2005.
Any ideas or assistance will be appreciated and rewarded!

Hi Brian,
You've given a great description of the big picture, which is always IMHO the best place to start.
Now, to break it down for any developers reading this post and considering your project, could you paint a picture of how you invision the process working in terms of the the website itself?
As in, which parts of the big picture do you want to automate and how? Which parts would you like to do online? At which points will there need to be some kind of administrative action (i.e. approval/confirmation/initiation of next process/etc.)?
