I am using the Mountain Man template, with a Basic license from my hosting provider, b/c I want to ensure Soho is the right tool for our business.

1) Suppose I want to completely remove the News and Promo blue boxes from the entire website. Is there a way to customize the template to do so?

2) So, I started playing around with the Promo and News boxes. I added a few entries, but have no idea how to remove either of these entries. FYI: In the Basic version the "Blog Manager" icon is "greyed-out" an disabled, so the Promo and News entries were made through Template Manager >> Edit Promotional Boxes Now!

3) Can you add HTML code to either the promo or News boxes instead of just text? I was trying to add Google Checkout code, but it didn't work properly and didn't display properly

4) I am trying to edit the stylesheet for the entire page. For example, I want to move or remove the date stamp and the "Visitors Currently Online" components of the base page framework. How do I do that? Do I need to edit a file behind the scenes or is this available through the GUI tools? Which file to edit?

I come from the school of prototyping a software tool before I pay for licensing, but have no problems paying for licensing at that point. So, I'm hoping any recomendations from this community are not of the sort "upgrade to Pro Version and this will fix all your problems". My hosting provider gave us this license as a web development tool to try.

I appreciate your help with this questions. Thank you ! :ehheh:

I figured out #2. I emptied the database table: BLOG_CONTENT. However, this deleted everything, and I could not edit it. I imagine using a mySQL query tool would allow you to edit the entries.

All your points deal with the fact that you are not happy with the template and want to customize it. You can find info on how to do it here:

http://wiki.soholaunch.com/index.php?title=Custom_Templates

Trying on the basd version of the product is no way to evaluate if it indeed meets your needs. I assume that you installed Soho via Fantastico through your host. I recommend to deinstall it via Fantastico then go here:

http://info.soholaunch.com/index.php?pr=Download_Now

You can download the install file directly from Soho and install it yourself. In this way, you have the full-featured product to evaluate for 15 days before the advanced features expire.

Whatever you have built in your site now will be lost. Hopefully it does not require you much to put them back together. Had you had the full featured version, you would have been able to simply do a backup before deinstall and then a restore after reinstall (just a little teaser on the advanced features.)
