What have you people planned for the weekend. I'm so happy that the weekend is here, because this is one that i have been looking forward to for a long time. I am going to have a blast with one of my friends who has returned home after six long months.

Can't believe you have to work over your weekend... Gosh. But, you say its your property and maybe that'll help you. Its a good idea that you are taking your friends along. Have a nice time man.

Weekend is the time, we can catch up on all our friends and folks. So working during the weekends eats up so much of our time. I try closing down all my work by friday itself and relax myself over the weekend...

Unfortunately, I'm a workaholic. Or, probably fortunately... maybe. :)

Disneyworld last year, I had wifi and my laptop.

Oops, i do know some friends who are like that. I wonder how they derive pleasure, by working non-stop. :hmm:

I actually love my job - I started out kind of falling into web hosting 9+ years ago when my son was born. I was a web designer, found a good deal on hosting with a now defunct host, and wanted to make a couple of bucks while being able to stay home and raise my kid. Somewhere along the line, I did well, and it turned from "Make a couple of bucks" to supporting my entire family, and those Disneyworld vacations. I'm not sure I really intended it that way, but it happened.

When my son was two, though, he was diagnosed with a Congenital Heart defect, and both things became even more important (the money, and the time with him). Working for myself allows me to pay medical bills that would bankrupt other people I know, pay extremely high medical insurance premiums, but it also allows me to structure when I work so that I'm there when he needs me, which I couldn't do with a "regular job".

I'm grateful, and blessed, that I can do that - and I feel a really strong loyalty towards my clients and my company for allowing me to do that. Not everyone can make a good income in their back office while being home all the time, and I recognize that I only have that because my clients believe in what I do and trust me with what they do. If I'm the foundation that they stand on to say what they want to the world, or while they try and support their families with business, they, too, are the foundation that I stand on that makes life easier considering what we deal with.

As a consequence, my work ethic got very disciplined, but it also made my job mean much more than a "job" - each client's choice to host with me contributes to healing my son, and so I work as hard as I can for them. I value the company and clients as much, much more than just a job.

That makes you want to work very hard for the people who enable your kid to have Mom around whenever he needs her, and who can have an open heart surgery when he needs it without our family being frantic that we can't pay for it.

I get pleasure by seeing my company run well, my servers purr, my clients tell me that they would never go anywhere else, and my kid being able to walk into my office any time and ask if I can take a break to play Wii Bowling.

I try to get away 2-3 times a year - but even then, I'm working when on vacation. And I love it. :)
