After installing one of the new templates from sohotemplates.com for the purpose of understanding the operation of the new tags, I have come across a bug..........

When opening the SMT and browsing to the Blog Manager the existing subjects dropdown box is automaically populated with repeating subjects
1. Special Promotions
2. Latest News
The number of times they appear corresponds with the number of times I enter the Blog Manager even within the same session.

After checking the blog_category table my suspicions were found true.
An sql structure appends the blog_category table at each reload of the Blog Manager screen in the SMT.
Any chance of a quick fix....

let me post the reply i send to christobal,

the #NEWSBOX# and PROMO tags are at this stage quit difficult to understand, i agree with that.

let me create some screenshots, to show you how i have set it up on our test system.

check the screenshot at http://www.sohotemplates.com/tutor/newsandpromo.gif

remember to put NEWS 1st in the blog manager and after that the PROMO, then this will automatically show these in the right order.

the reply i got from Mike,

To test the boxes, just create a couple of Blog Entries under the subjects "Latest News" and/or "Special Promotions".

If your test site doesn't already have the Latest News and Special Promotions categories in your blog_category table as categories number 1 and 2, you'll have to dump your blog_category and blog_content tables first.

TNX for the quick response
Have a look at this screenshot of my SMT when all I did was add News and Promo to the subjects list http://christobal.netzer.org.il/Bugs/MyBlog.gif

hmmm, that looks pretty strange. I would recommend to take a backup of your database and then delete everything in there.

after that create a NEWS and PROMO as number 1 and 2 as stated in my last message.

After following your words of wisdom
1. Empty blog_category table
2. Empty blog_content table

I logged onto the SMT and in the Blog Manager received the 2 default categories
but after editing a single blog and posting for each of the 2 default categories I was left in the same prediciment see http://christobal.netzer.org.il/Bugs/afterdump.gif

that looks like a bug indeed, but only in your version, because im not able to create the same error. its working here. I think you have to contact Mike or Cameron about this trough a support ticket.

In light of this bug, we will come up with a fix for this, along the lines of having a unique table for news and promo boxes seperate from the blog tables, but still managed from the blog manager.

TNX for your help please notify when a fix is available, maybe we could see the return of the File Exchange Forums.

On another note have been able to e-mail notifications to new members who sign up but as in the previous builds the NewsLetter Campaign is not sent to any of the recipients in the list even though the SMT notifies that the action is being processed. Anyone have any thoughts on this issue?

How is the sendmail function different in this module from the other e-mail modules?
