What are the exact steps to increase the length of the menu bars in the template NEUTRAL Pinstripes Green?

It looks like the maximum length is 19 characters and my category headings are longer than that. (see http://www.yonsidemanse.com/index.php?pr=dwellinthegarden)

Switching from "buttons" to "text links" will wrap long page names.

The "buttons" style is hard-coded. You can customize pgm-auto_menu.php and place your own copy in the folder of your template.

Along these same lines, I've added a sub category, but it only shows when I've clicked on the main category that the sub category is under.

Is there a way to have all the sub categories show along the vertical menu of NEUTRAL Pinstripes Green all the time, even when on the home page?

I assume by "category" you meant "menu". Well, if you want all sub menu items to appear at all time, perhaps you should make them all main menu items. You can make them a little distinctive by adding ".." (or something similar) in front of the page name.

If you really want to keep them as sub menu items but appear at all time regardless of which page you are on, you will have to come up with your own version of pgm-auto_menu.php.
