Hi there,
We are looking for a way to create custom menus I know this can be done as I have seen it done on TZ Menu templates and templates by Tim. If anyone can shed some light on how to go about this that would be great.
I also see that you use to be able to buy a tz menu plugin from templatezapper.com but it now longer seems to be there or on the sohoaddon site.
Any help would be great.
Kind Regards

I know for a fact that Tim is the GREAT master in coming up with very innovative ways in soho menu styling. The beauty of his work is that it conforms with soho specifications completely.
Beg him for tips! :)

As the developer of the TZ Menu System for Soholaunch, I made the decision to only offer it on a "custom" basis, not as a generalized plug-in.
This allows the appearance of the menu system to exactly match the look and rollover effects that the webmaster wants.

I'm no master really. I just utilize some great open source code and trim and cut to how I want it to work. Of course Leh-Wen had a hand in getting the Suckerfish menu working in the Soho environment.
If you're looking to do some CSS drop down menus you should start here:
http://www.htmldog.com/articles/suckerfish/dropdowns/
Without giving away too much of Leh-Wen's hard work, the general idea is to get the Soho auto menu system to output as a (W3C complaint) bulleted list. Once you get that done it's just a matter of applying some slick CSS to said list and before you know it you've got a cool (tableless) drop down menu.

If you don't want to go in to code you can order a TZ-menu and then i have a free plug-in that can edit TZ-Menu for you so you can change it the way you want it to look.

i have been trying for hrs.. and i managed to get only the buttons working.. im pretty sure my code is right, i just dont kno how to make the sub menu's.. :hover.. i have code that SHOULD make them hover.. but if im using just a single #VMENU# tag.. how can i apply the code to the submenu's? ahh it's annoying me.. i dont really expect many more hints then uve givin me.. But thanks for everything guys
Does it Require editing of the pgm-auto-menu.php file?

#VMENU# tag generates submenu items ONLY when you are on one of the pages associated with the submenu. In short, you are dealing with the full deck.
You are on the right track, pgm-auto_menu.php needs to be overhauled in order to show ALL submenu items no matter which page you are on.

Oh i see, soo editing the php file to show all submenu items all the time is what i need, i'll try doing this later but i have very little understanding of php, but i'll still fiddle around with it.
Thanks for all your help! i greatly appreciate it and hopefully u'll see some professional templates with working css menu systems from me soon!
Thanks Again,
Matthew

Yes thats it Matthew. Once you're able to output all menu items, main and sub level at once you let the CSS hide and show the sub level as necessary (hover effect). Don't forget the sfHover javascript fix for IE.

Matthew,
One word of warning Matthew. Make sure that if you edit the pgm-auto_menu.php file, you place the edited version in your template folder! If you edit the one on the root of your site, it will get overwritten the next time you log into your admin.

Not to highack a tread but a question. For NSNA.
Is there somewear i can find out where
soho, like you said updated files or overwrights them?
Is it all the root files or just some. And witch ones?
I would like to also know what files are overwritten
during a update.Just the ones that are redone or just some files?
