These are a majorly scaled down/modified version of the Web Hosting Talk rules, and these rules seem to work well on there, so I'd like to use them as a springboard - if the discussion dies out, and ya'll don't care, then we'll just nuke it and ya'll can leave it up to your illustrious moderators.

1) No signature longer than 4 lines.
2) No signature with affiliate codes in them - links to your own company ok.
3) No self-promotion in response to other people's threads - if someone else wants to recommend you, fine, but don't jump in to promote your product or service.
4) Advertising in the Lounge only
5) Advertising must have an [ADV] tag in the subject so people can skip if they choose.
6) Must have 10 posts before you can post an advertisement.
7) Advertisement must be Soholaunch related - development, plugin, add on, hosting, graphics design, web design, etc.

So, there's my idea to start. Anyone else?

Jen, I think these are VERY sensible!

You know what, I'm going to add one or two to my own list:

8) Only one user id can post ads for their own company
9) No ads with affiliate codes - you must be a representative of the company or individual performing the service.
10) No more than one ad may be posted every 14 days.

Great points Jen, they all sound good to me. I'll do my best to keep an eye on this. I have updated the Lounge Rules (http://forum.soholaunch.com/showthread.php?t=1) with these 10 items.

If someone does not follow them point them to that post. If they continue to break the rules use your best judgment on the action to take. If you are not sure about what to do and I have not chimed in, pm me and I'll sort it out.

Excellent!

Now if we could just make them retroactive....

Oh, you did.

Yep, they're Soholaunch. They can do whatever the heck they want here. :)

Everything sounds good except 1 thing.
The word rules,How about guidelines.
I always had a problem with rules.

A guideline is optional. It's a "recommendation" of how something should be done. A rule is a set of defined parameters that say what will be done, or else. :P
