built-in javascript functions

but i have no clue how to use the built-in javascript functions

What are you trying to do?

i am making a shopping cart website with 5 main menu links
with only one main menu link containing 26 submenu links
one for each product categories
for the main menu links i am using customized images with a separate rollover image
and i want to the rollover image the image for the active page
for the submenu links i am using regular text
but i want another custom image to appear left of the submenu text for the active page
