Total newbies to having a (website ), we've recently noticed that the Search keyphrases for the site have begun to include questionable phrases for our Church site. See current list below. What causes this and is there something I should be doing to protect our site?

I have to disagree - just looking at your keywords, I can see a few issues:
"Adult" "mp3s" "smaff" all these words have other connotations - especially "Adult" alone, btw, which isn't a connotation that I would guess you would have wanted to have. IMO, you should make the keywords far more relevant - instead of adult, have "adult classes" - the more specific the better. Someone searching for "adult mp3s" may have you thrown into the mix and not in any way be looking for a Catholic church in Kingsland, TX. Google is just an algorithm. It's a mathematical creation, but they're not going to change their algorithm based on complaints and complaining to them, quite honestly, isn't going to get you anywhere if your complaint is lucky enough to be read by a human. It's just not the way the Internet and search engines work. It's up to people utilizing Google to do some study and work to ensure their page is cataloged as best as they can get it cataloged while working within the system.

I suspect that your site has probably been compromised if these are the search phrases that led people to your site. I recommend to do a thorough scan of your site for any hacker-inserted codes.
One place to start is to download and install soho's malicious file scanner: http://info.soholaunch.com/Security.php. Follow the direction there. You may want to enlist help from your host as well.
