Multi Level Navigation

I have implemented left side nav menus using this plugin but also wish to use drop down menus from my main, horizontal menu links (which at present I have hard-coded in my template).

I'm aiming for a similar effect to the top drop down menus on the plugin's website: http://examples.emergingdesigns.com/Home_Page.php

I keep getting stuck with the css code, I can get each individual menu to appear but not as a drop down on mouseover.

Is anyone able to help me with the required css?
