Default Modifying a template

Hello

I am just returning to use soho after a long absence. There is something I seem to remember but have forgotten. When making changes to a template, I believe the changes need to be saved in a directory other than that of the template itself. Could someone please remind me of the procedure?

I appreciate your response, it's just that I don't have time to wade through extensive documentation right now.

Regards
Andrew

Hi Leh-Wen
Hmmm... so I actually hack the template itself? I was under the impression that soho had a mechanism for NOT hacking the template itself but had a hierarchical system for checking which index file was active. If it found a new index.html then it used that instead of the template's index.html. Maybe something to do with the tCustom directory??? Or is my memory failing???

Thanks as ever for your help
Andrew

You can assign different template to different pages if that's what you want to do.

Within each template, home.html for home page, cart.html for shopping cart, news.html for blogs/articles, and index.html as the default.

I beleive it used to work something like that, but it's been deprecated now. You do 'hack' the template now - after taking a backup of course
